How to use the Dog-Friendly Places Map
Find places in Korea where you can bring your dog, by your location or a district name. The values are copied from the open data as published, and a place missing from the data is never described as dog-friendly. Conditions are shown only when the data has them.
What this map does
Tap Use my location and the places within your chosen radius are listed nearest first. If you do not allow location, pick a district by name and browse its whole list.
Each place shows the dog size allowed, restrictions, indoor or outdoor, any extra fee, hours and the data date, copied as written in the data.
Where the data comes from
The source is the Korea Culture Information Service Agency dataset of pet-friendly cultural facilities nationwide on data.go.kr. Its usage-permission field reads no restriction, which we checked directly on 2026-10-05.
The file had 70,650 rows. We removed 46,724 duplicate rows with the same name, coordinates and category, and split the remaining 23,926 rows into 250 areas. We changed no other values.
The data page says the records were entered and checked by people, so some fields may contain mistakes. It also says facility policies change over time and tells you to go by the last-written date.
Dates differ by place. The oldest is 2022-11-30 and the newest is 2025-03-24. The portal lists a modified date of 2026-09-08. The older the date, the more likely the place has changed since.
How to read the list
Categories are the words used in the data. The groups on screen, such as places to go and cafes, are ours and exist only to filter. Each entry also shows its original category.
Vets and pharmacies make up most of the data, so the list starts with places to go. You can switch to them with the filter buttons.
The data also contains places listed as not allowing dogs. They are hidden by default and shown with a not-allowed label when you turn them on.
An empty size or restriction field means the data does not say. Do not read that as no limit. Ask the place.
Distance is a straight line from you to the one point in the data.
What it cannot do
- It does not know if a place is open right now. Hours are the values in the data. Temporary closures and shutdowns are not reflected.
- It does not know places that are not in the data. A cafe that welcomes dogs but was never added to the data is not here.
- It cannot promise the data is current. The date differs by place. Check with the place before you go.
- There are no reviews or photos. We take nothing from users and show open data only.
Common problems
Use my location does nothing. Your browser may have blocked location, or location may be off on your device. Pick a district by name and you can browse without it.
My area is almost empty. Few places there made it into the data. The number listed is at the top of each area page.
Where does my location go? It stays in your browser and is not sent to a server. The privacy policy has the details.
